When I did mine, that happened (showed login on 1 before flipping to
screen 7, which blanked), but I was able to flip from black screen back
to console on screen 1, but only with the splash command removed. With
splash command, all screens were bad. However, I have PCIE graphics.

Question: are there 3 seperate problems or versions of them here?

Ability to access console (are there any people with "working" edgy
installs who can't access screans 1-6, but have working xwindows on 7?)

Misconfigured X from live CD script?
1. People who can't get to a console screen off CD but seem to have sound.
(External monitors message such as "signal not supported" or "change input
resolution")
2. People who can't get any screen up and have no sound. (External monitors
power off or say "no signal.")

Experiment: When machine screen blanks, wait a bit, when quiet, push
laptop power button (configured to bring up shutdown/login/sleep menu.),
hit up arrow, hit enter. Does anything happen? (Be patient.)

Also, when screen blanks, does hitting ctrl-alt-bkspc cause a visible
reload? with splash? without splash?

Am I the only person who was able to work around by removing splash from
the boot parameters, and finding that though main screen died, became
able to switch back to a console?

Is this issue behaving differently for AGP and PCIE graphics, or is that
a coincidence?
