Well... I did a automatic update from 7.10 to Hardy and had no crash on first opening Mozilla, but meanwhile I have changed the tabbrowser extension preferences such as not to automatically load the last session on startup. Conclusion: I can't tell you if the problem is still there, because it happened only on update.
Btw: tabbrowser extensions are deemed questionable by some people. They don't work anymore on firefox since quite some time, (only on Mozilla) but none of the other tab extensions I am aware of provide multiple lines of tabs and colored tab grouping...
