Now I have installed Xubuntu Intrepid Alpha 5 to the machine. Suspend button didn't suspend, but it didn't seem to cause trouble either.
Hibernate worked rather well, although there was some temporary display corruption visible in some parts of the process: For example the screen blinked in text-like mode while going to sleep. Also part of the screen was corrupted at some point of wake-up procces. User is not asked password during wake-up, if hibernate is launched from the Action buttons dialog. There is a workaround for some cases, but it works with gnome-screensaver, not xscreensaver that seems to be running by default.
