Anyway.
The low-level detection is necessary because this issue not only applies to 
KDM. Say you are logged in and KMail explodes because you again ran out of disk 
space.

KDE/Qt should have a nifty system to early detect diskspace shortage and
warn the user, so he can do something about it _before_ problems appear.
