- using a newer version of the intrepid CD (09092008) and forcing the manual install to use "/dev/sda" for grub make it work/boot correctly after the installation is finished - not forcing the target-partition for grub it defaults to "(hd0)" - during installation a USB-based CD-ROM drive is connected to the machine (ThinkPad X61 laptop) - no other mass-storage devices are connected during the installation - there's only one SATA-disk installed in the laptop
