please attach a complete syslog taking after reproducing this issue.
Also if you have a chance (and are brave ;)) test the NM 0.7 packages in
intrepid or the network-manager team PPA in launchpad for hardy.

After wireless card is disabled from the nm-applet, suspending the laptop and
then back on, the wireless card is automatically enabled while at the same time
not indicated by the nm-applet
