** Description changed:

  I have a Dell D630 with integrated video (Intel 965) in a D-Port
docking station. Attached to the docking station (with DVI) is a Dell
22" LCD monitor (2208WFP). I see the login screen on both monitors. But
once I log in, I get the following message on my external monitor: "Out
of range signal . . . change computer display input to [EMAIL PROTECTED]"
Yet I cannot change the resolution via "Screen Resolution." Indeed it's
- difficult to do anything, since the laptop display is set at such a low
- resolution that I can see little of my desktop. A few concluding points:
+ difficult to do anything, since for some reason the laptop display gets

In an effort to work around this problem, I updated the version of Hardy
to 2.6.24.21, but the problem was occurring in .19 as well. Also, I do
not believe this to be a hardware issue. The external monitor works fine
- under Windows XP. Finally, for some reason the external monitor works
- through VGA. But it flickers really badly.

+ normally if the external monitor is not attached via the docking
+ station.

I apologize if this is not a bug in xrandr, but rather some sort of
configuration problem. In any case, I'd be grateful if you could direct
me to some instructions for resolving the issue.
