I have same problem, but OOo file is on Windows Server 2003. Strange
behaviour has also OOo sheet with password, but problem is maybe in
samba client configuration. OOo create damaged file when overwrites
origin file.

Example:
1. Create new sheet on windows share
2. Save file
3. Open same file
4. Save it with password and close
5. Open it again, choose "save as" from menu and save with same name, but
without password (uncheck).
