Public bug reported: A while ago, the Kubuntu team asked me to get rid of guidance-backends in jockey, since guidance is abandoned upstream and we don't want to support it any more.
Alberto has kindly done the porting of Jockey to X-Kit (http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~jockey-hackers/jockey/trunk/revision/376) in jockey trunk now. X-Kit is used by the X.org configuration applets as well now, and recently got promoted to main. It has a slightly better API than guidance, and has a reasonably rich test suite. Jockey's own test suite ensures that the patch works well, and in fact has uncovered a few bugs in both the initial porting, as well as x-kit itself, which got all fixed now. Therefore I am quite confident in the change. I'd like to merge this into the Ubuntu branch for an intrepid upload, so that we can get rid of guidance. ** Affects: jockey (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- FF exception request: switch from guidance-backends to x-kit https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/269057 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
