I see the same bug: I have been running hardy for a while now and it used to work until very recently. (Sept 11/08, it was working normally last week) Likely something in the recent patches broke this functionality. The drive used to appear automagically, now I have to go to the Places menu to see it - once I select it from Places, it seems to work normally.
