Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: synaptic

I run KDE4.1 installed from the ubuntu repo, as an additional DE on top
of my standard Ubuntu Hardy X64 installation. Since Adept (KDE package
manager) basically does not work, I use synaptic package manager. It
works really fine in GNOME, but in KDE I have this problem every time it
executes some operation involving package modification (that is, I do
not have any problem to update the package list, but I do if I upgrade,
install or remove software). Here what happens: once all the packages
have been succesfully installed (or upgraded), the "Applying changes"
window does not close (neither automatically or manually). Synaptic gets
unresponsive (but I can show/hide details in the "applying changes"
window) and I have to kill it manually. The installed packages seem to
work correctly by the way. in the "details" section in the "applying
changes" I read "ldconfing deferred processing now taking place" before
the freeze.

** Affects: synaptic (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
