Same problem here on a Thinkpad T60 (Ati mobile x1400). BUT: I get this problem only if I have connected a extra screen (Benq FP202W) to the notebook over VGA. Maybe there's a problem with recognizing this monitor? If I plug in the monitor after "Loading hardware drivers", it boots normally.
