Public bug reported:

My Ubuntu 8.04 AMD64 frequently stops working when I browse a PHP page with
Firefox (or Opera) or when I download files with Transmission BitTorrent Client.
When this happens, I always try to switch to tty1 and stop Firefox or
Transmission BT Client. However, I rarely successed to switch to tty1. Mostly,
the screen became full of insteresting colors when I press Ctrl+Alt+F1 and then
I can do nothing but shut the machine with the button on it.

I've tried searching for solutions with google and on Ubuntu Chinese
Forum. What I found is just many people complaining that thier Ubuntu
stop working.
