Oh, it seems nautilus is trying to use imdb-thumbnailer to create the thumbnails. I did install it some time ago on Hardy, so that's probably the problem. It's not installed on Intrepid.
Only mimetypes assigned to imdb-thumbnailer seem to be having this problem.
