I have a d-link router that is supposed to work with two computers, one
connected to Ethernet and the other to USB, my ubuntu machine is connected to
USB, the windows computer Ethernet, the problem here is that I can only have
one computer connected to the internet, don't work if both are connected, but
if I change the windows comp. to USB and the ubuntu comp. to Ethernet, both
work with the internet!
the USB connection in network manager is displayed as eth1, works but has some
problems.
I followed a tutorial on how to sync a windows 5 mobile phone, I landed up
removing the existing USB drivers and installing usb-rndis-modules and
usb-rndis-source, to my surprise the USB connection is now listed in the
network manager as a wired connection rndis, no long as eth1 and best of all,
works very smooth with internet, faster just like Ethernet and I can have both
computers surfing the internet at the same time, wonderful!
now I ask why this rndis driver is not included in the kernel?
or please, include it in the next ubuntu 8.10.
