I experienced the same issue (Very poor write performance with LSI SAS1068E chip (on the Tyan s5397 server board) Max was about 24MB/s doing a direct copy from a SATA attached drive and this included a lot a "pauses" where it appeared that no activity was taking place at all. Basically the "out of the box" 8.04 driver / kernel setup is useless for running a server with the LSI SAS1068E in it's current configurations.
Attempted Ibex 8.10 64 alpha desktop live CD (as suggested above) and was unable to get the system boot to complete. I am more than happy to run tests etc cause now I am forced to work with an OS which does not allow me to take advantage of the fantastic memory capabilities of this particular MB. WIll attempt to install the linux linux-image-2.6.27-* package as time allows and report back with results. I was really hoping a solution that could be implemented by 8.04 LTS users. I would be elated to find a way to get Ubuntu running on this marvelous new hardware that no other OS seems to be able to take full advantage of. -- write performance problem with LSI Logic SAS1068 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/185127 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
