after this, i run the command again in a terminal
(/usr/share/grub-installer/grub-installer', '/target)
i got this
===================================
The GRUB boot loader installation often fails or hangs when /boot is on a XFS
file system. Using LILO in this situation is recommended.
Install the GRUB boot loader to XFS file system?
                                             <Yes>   <No>
===================================
so this bug is definitly XFS related; should i do a new
and fresh bugreport for this???

i will try the install again with ext3!
