KPDF is based on Xpdf and it's not using Poppler. Poppler is based on Xpdf too, it's a fork of the Xpdf code. The bug 14407 I've mentioned above showed that behaviour reproduced without Evince. So I still think it's a poppler issue. Somebody could try to reproduce it with a poppler based viewer like Okular or other, some programs using poppler are listed here: http://freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/poppler
