Hello Mike,

I tested it with again with my current version

(Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron,
uname --all: Linux G3 2.6.24-19-powerpc #1 Wed Aug 20 18:48:30 UTC
2008 ppc GNU/Linux,
mdadm -V: mdadm - v2.6.3 - 20th August 2007)

and found no failure any more.

I also checked by appending "break top" (seen in man initramfs-tools)
to the boot command, whether there existed a static device node somehow,
before it should be created by mdadm: this was not the case. So the
device node was created between "top" and the appearance of both
partitions for md0, just as needed and as it should be.

Bye, Bernward.
