When trying to submit a crash report I got an error that there were
packages that were not up to date. Those packages it was complaining
about however were candidates from hardy-proposed. One for example was
libgcc1:
$ apt-cache policy libgcc1
libgcc1:
Installed: 1:4.2.3-2ubuntu7
Candidate: 1:4.2.4-1ubuntu1
Version table:
1:4.2.4-1ubuntu1 0
500 http://apt.interlinx.bc.ca hardy-proposed/main Packages

500 http://apt.interlinx.bc.ca hardy/main Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
As you can see, I have the most recent "general release" version
installed already and the only other (newer or otherwise) version
available is from hardy-proposed.
apport should not consider libgcc1 "out of date" in this case.
