Public bug reported:
These two actions work fine about half of the time:
- Opening a video with Totem, either from a file or embedded in a web page.
- Starting Cheese to display the camera image.
The rest of the time, one of the following happens:
- The desktop locks up. The mouse can be moved, but everything else,
including CPU meter, is frozen. Terminal switching with Ctrl+Alt+F1 does not
work. It is still possible to SSH to the computer in question.
- More rarely, the computer instead reboots immediately.
- Even more rarely, the user is logged out and the login screen appears.
This bug appears in Ubuntu 8.04 on a Fujitsu Siemens Lifebook P7230. I
do not recall experiencing it using Ubuntu 7.10 on the same computer.
