Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: synaptic
I am using Ubuntu 8.10 Intrepid Ibex and when I try to open the Synaptic
Package Manager via System -> Administration -> Synaptic Package
Manager, I am shown these two errors:
E: dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'dpkg --configure -a' to correct
the problem.
E: _cache->open() failed, please report.
When trying to run "dpkg --configure -a", I am given another error
telling me that I am not a superuser so hence, I can't use the tool.
However, when running "synaptic" via the terminal, I am shown no errors
whatsoever and I believe it to work fine.
