I have a similar error. I am also using Hardy. but with keymap us.

I haven't noticed the connection with the caps lock key.

My symptoms are that I will use the key combination CTL+Shft+arrow key
and either or both of the CTL and Shft keys acts "stuck".  e.g ctl+c
just give "c" rather than "copy". or Alt+e gives Ctl+Sht+e

I note that the rdesktop application was recently updated but this error
still occurs. (it is still 1.5.0 something).
