Alpha-6 Release with -3 kernel no longer exhibits this problem, so please

Ubuntu 8.10 Alpha-5 Release
Tried LiveCD sessions on several different machines.
Ignoring gvfsd-trash reports, System, Shut Down or Restart refuse to work.
After a real Manual install, the same problem.
This is a great pity, because packages that worked well in Ubuntu 7.10,
then poorly in 8.04 are now working well.
I'll try again with this weeks Alpha-6 release.
