Apparently there are no evident symptoms except that sound works with OSS but
not with ALSA or Autodetect.
So for example gdm doesn't play sounds anymore while rhythmbox does (with OSS).
The system hangs a few seconds before displaying that line related to HDA
response timeout.
With a google search I found that other people had the same message and it was
connected to alsa drivers:
http://lkml.org/lkml/2006/10/28/17 (same message and no sound on Edgy)
http://gibreel.net/gentoo-on-lenovo-3000-n100/ (a possible solution?)
http://www.gelato.unsw.edu.au/lxr/source/sound/pci/hda/hda_intel.c?a=i386 (the
source code)
I also remember that on dapper I got ALSA errors during shutdown but sound
worked perfectly without changing the Autodetect option.
Another thing I observed is that my swap partition isn't correctly activated,
but I think it is not related to this boot message.
