A bit more information (1) the bug happens whenever I resume and am unconnected to the dock. E.g. if I suspend unconnected and resume unconnected, it happens.
(2) The system is not completely unresponsive. Sometimes, if I bash enough of the "Fn" keys, it eventually resumes properly - in particular, if I hit the "Sleep" key combination. (3) Also, the bug is intermittent.
