Alpha 6 hangs up, CD Live on IBM Thinkpad R31. 32 bit Celeron, 1 gHz, Intel graphics.
Just at the point the Gnome background should show, the screen turns black and the keyboard doesn't work except for power off. Installed Alpha 5 with kernel 2.6.27-2 works, the updates from the applet on the top line included kernel 2.6.27-3 plus a bunch of other updates. This install fails the same way as the Alpha 6 CD live, however since it is installed I can access the logs from the dual boot Alpha 5 (without updates, of course). The gnome-panel referred to never appears on the screen. These are the last few lines from daemon.log: Sep 19 07:27:40 Thinkpad x-session-manager[5431]: DEBUG(+): GsmAutostartApp: starting gnome-panel.desktop: command=gnome-panel startup-id=101a420ad80fc66122182364885609100000054310020 Sep 19 07:28:13 Thinkpad init: tty4 main process (3990) killed by TERM signal Sep 19 07:28:13 Thinkpad init: tty5 main process (3991) killed by TERM signal Sep 19 07:28:13 Thinkpad init: tty2 main process (3999) killed by TERM signal Sep 19 07:28:13 Thinkpad init: tty3 main process (4002) killed by TERM signal Sep 19 07:28:13 Thinkpad init: tty6 main process (4005) killed by TERM signal I can certainly verify tty was killed. Any ideas of things to try?
