Please try a desktop cd of 8.10 alpha 6 and use model=asus-mode2. The
procedure to do so is as follows:
1) Boot the desktop cd of 8.10 alpha 6, and wait for the desktop to finish
loading
2) Choose Applications> Accessories> Terminal
3) In the Terminal, execute the following commands verbatim (copy and paste):
pulseaudio -k && kill $(sudo lsof -t /dev/dsp* /dev/audio* /dev/mixer*
/dev/seq* /dev/snd/*) && sudo rmmod snd-hda-intel && sudo modprobe
snd-hda-intel model=asus-mode2
4) In the Terminal, execute the following command verbatim (copy and paste):
esd&
5) Choose to reload the mixer panel applet
6) Rerun the alsa-info.sh script
