I can confirm the same bug on my system.

in xorg.conf, after running "nvidia-glx-config enable" :
* Device ID for video card becomes incorrect
* Keyboard layout reverts to basic US

Easily fixed with a console text edit using nano, but mildly annoying.

I just moved to Ubuntu today after many years of Mandrake. On a usability
note: if I was a noob, and my keyboard layout changed, I would be clueless. On
login, KDM/GDM both input focus the password field, so as the user types his
password he has no idea what characters are going in - see
https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+spec/gdm-keyboard-layout .
The only graphical tool to alter keyboard layout is "System Settings ->
Regional & Language" to enable multiple layouts, but this in my experience
conflicts with whatever is in xorg.conf .

Anyway that's off-topic.

What code or script is responsible for parsing xorg.conf that's causing
this bug?
