i think its a corner case. and creating a static auto connection will
help some, but most likely make more unhappy. In NM 0.7 you can
configure static connections. that should be good enough. NM 0.7 is in
intrepid and for hardy users also in the network-manager team PPA
(preview archive): http://launchpad.net/~network-manager/+archive
