This is not a bug in the NVIDIA driver. Type the following command:
sudo apt-get install python-opengl python-gtkglext1
then launch gnuchess again and the 3d mode will work.
gnuchess should at least suggest the installation of python-opengl
python-gtkglext1 . I'll change the subject of this report and assign the
bug to gnuchess.
