I don't think this bug is invalid. I just tried to change the host name
of this virtual machine. So the first thing I did was look for Network
in the System > Administration. That lead me to almost create a new bug
report because it is a regression that you cannot "administer" the
network settings using the Administration menu. You are forced to use an
applet in the panel? I can understand the panel applet being a shortcut,
but completely removing the Network menu item completely is confusing.

As for the changing of the host name and domain name, this is a MUST for
anyone expected to administer any number of computers on a network. As
for the comment, "changing the hostname is not a good idea, it breaks
the current session". Updating the kernel without restarting isn't a
great idea either, that's why the Update Manager tells you to
restart....why can't the Network Manager do the same thing?
