Seems as I got close to get a better debug patch together, upstream has made more C1E related fixes which should solve hangs on boot. A kernel that contains the latest changes can be found at http://people.ubuntu.com/~smb/bug254668/linux- image-2.6.27-4-generic_2.6.27-4.6smb1_i386.deb
