There are a couple possibilities here.

What you're most likely encountering is snd_pcsp having grabbed the
primary index.  Because you didn't also grab - well, at least we can't
assume that you did from your description - the various pulseaudio and
module-init-tools packages from 8.10 as well, you're missing the various
hacks to prevent the pc speaker from acting as the primary sound device.

Another possible cause is the age-old (and well documented) Flash-
PulseAudio interaction "bug".  You can work around that by installing
libasound2-plugins and running `asoundconf set-pulseaudio', then
restarting your web browser.

Please attempt to reproduce the symptom using an 8.10 alpha 6 (or newer)
desktop image.
