Public bug reported: For a new user, the UI metaphor of a red light/cross icon that marks installation/activation is unknown. It takes a while until the user looked all over the dialog that he finds the meaning of the icon at the lower end.
Better icons are the ones of synaptic, although I doubt that many users use it. A better solution in my opinion is the UI of the language-selector, where an additional column makes it easily understood that a package is installed.
