Upstream has stated the following:
"As Jim said previously, the man pages are autogenerated from the output
of the programs' --help. The value of keeping the man pages in sync with
the program outweighs the drawbacks of certain formatting problems like
this. If someone wants to submit a patch to help2man for this sort of
thing it will certainly be considered. "
As such I am marking coreutils as WONT FIX, and setting help2man as
WISHLIST.
