Can you please provide us with your xorg.conf? Actually, it would be better if you can provide us with the file /etc/X11/xorg.conf just after you login, and then provide us with a copy of the file just after you change the resolution. I'm afraid there is nothing we can do to you without knowing what's in this file. It would be even better if you can attach the file /var/log/Xorg.0.log as well. Thanks in Advance
