In fact I've the " bug " with or without install from the" livecd ". The menu (with the logo "ubuntu") after booting from the CD appears (installation, without launching facilities, etc ...) then whatever the choice comes the message "initramfs" etc ... I also tested an installation with the "alternate cd" with the same result.
After quite a few unsuccessful attempts, I replaced my player-recorder (IDE Bus "slave") "Sony CD-RW CRX0811 Model" of 2002 by a DVD-player "LG" (new on IDE Bus set instead on the same ground connector that the Sony) and I was able to install! As it stands, I think the problem is a problem of recognition of "CRX0811" by the motherboard Asus because, for information, I have successfully installed Windows XP on another hard drive (Western Digital IDE "master" on the same ground as "CRX0811"), but I also have a problem to access the CRX0811 through Windows (Spack 3) problem I have'nt no more with the new recorder "LG", without having to do another installation of XP? ....... " Since, I received another questions from Asus, see following.. *********************************************************************** Asus: 1) Do You attempted to update bios? 2) Have you watched if there is a new firmware for your player? ..... *********************************************************************** Which I replied: *********************************************************************** 1) Yes 2) I did'nt find any update on Sony's web for the CRX0811 ************************************************************************ To be continued ......
