As you can notice, the file didn't get modified in any way. i guess your 
problem comes from the fact that there is 2 configurations in this file. it's 
obvious that the first configuration is the correct one.
run this command: (alt+f2) ?

gksu gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf

delete the lines starting from line 83 Section "device" #
and till line 106 EndSection

this will delete the second configuration, which we don't need, since it 
contains 1 low resolution.
I would have asked you to back your xorg.conf first, but now you have an online 
copy of it here :P
