Actually, you're lucky: I think because your second screen failed, the primary worked!
On my system (7600GT + 2 x DVI 1600x1200 LCDs), with Intrepid Alpha 6, both screens were completely unusable. The left-hand screen showed what looked like the hardy wallpaper, but with horridly mangled sync. The right-hand screen showed random flashing pattens, such as one might get after a kernel-panic during suspend. [The system works absolutely fine in Mandriva 2008.1 with the nvidia driver]. Xorg.0.log attached In my experience, the nv driver is a total disaster, and should be blacklisted. In the majority of cases, the nv driver leads to breakage, and it has never workd for me in any dual-head setup. The only safe default is the VESA driver, especially at install time. Those of us who want working dual-head still have to struggle with the nvidia binary blob (until the nouveau people figure it out). ** Attachment added: "xorg.0.log: broken dual-head with nv driver, Intrepid Alpha 6" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/18009468/vlxo.log -- Intrepid alpha 6: Dual screen fails with GeForce 7600GS and nv driver https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/199946 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
