Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: pidgin
1)
Description: Ubuntu 8.04.1
Release: 8.04
2)
pidgin 1:2.4.1-lubuntu2.1
pidgin-data 1:2.4.1-lubuntu2.1
3)
I expected it to use the /msg command.
4)
The text was sent to the channel and not as you would assume as a /msg command
but as plain text.
(My guess is that the / sent when copying is not the same char that is sent
when you type it in.)
(I tried copying from the text editor with the same result.)
[These are just my comments, I can't refrain from commenting when given the
chance.]
* Copying is a lot faster, I would be most pleased to have the above function
working normally.
* When downloading I liked the accept pop up, please do not change that.
* When downloading I had to select where I wanted to save the file every time,
could you please make it possible to select a default saving folder.
* I would like the possibility to open a server window without having to
connect to a chat.
* Would it be possible to put the 6 tabs I get when I connect to an irc server
in one tab (and call that server window).
* The users are colored in a variety of colors and some of those don't go well
on a white background. Could you please subtract like 20 to all the rgb values
to make all the colors darker and more visible.
* How do I change the background color?
* When someone connects it lists their address and this breaks one of the
human-computer interface rules, do not show the user things that only a
computer can read.
* There are virtually no settings and that makes the application less
attractive.
* An option to suppress quit and enter messages would be appreciated. It's a
lot easier to read without the unnecessary junk.
* What is my quit message when I use Pidgin?
* Most of the time a download bot only allows one download at a time. To come
around this problem the client could have a text editor where I copy and paste
the downloads I would like to make, then the client downloads the requests one
at a time. Another way to solve it would be to configure the bot in the bot
list to only allow one transfer at a time but you could still add new requests
but they are merely queued until the first download completes.
* I have looked at the !list command and I'm amazed that I have to do all this
searching and stuff by hand when it is made to be read by a computer, why do I
have to read computer generated junk. I'm a nerd but I would rather not read
junk. (In 5 seconds you could build a search tree for all the contents of a
channel and then you could just click on the stuff you wanted and repeat the
procedure on the next channel, time is money.)
* I like the stability of the program, it is rarely I see such stable programs.
My brain is spent, I hope some of my suggestions make it into a new
version.
Best regards.
