Public bug reported:

I hope this report makes sense...

Whenever I use the "Keramik" widget style, menus have a flickering
problem. I don't mean the window decorations of course, but rather
the "Style" setting that affects the appearance of buttons, comboboxes,
lists, etc. Normally, when you slide the mouse over a menu item at the
top of a program's window (e.g. "File", "Edit"...), the item should
cleanly highlight, and return to normal when you move off of it.

Instead, the item flickers briefly just before it highlights. Where
they are relative to the left-most end of the menu determines how long
the item takes to redraw. Take the menubar in Kmail, for example.
Items toward the left end ("File", "Edit") are fairly quick, but items
farther to the right ("Settings", "Help") get so slow that I can just
about make out the individual events that go into highlighting the item.

This leads to sluggish performance when browsing through the menus. My
video card may be fairly old (nVidia GF6600), but the computer itself is
more than adequate (Athlon 64x2 3800+ with 1GB RAM).

This does not happen as bad (or at all) with other widget styles like
Plastik.
