Could you please investigate whether that is the case and perhaps prepare an updated package that doesn't depend on makedev and doesn't call it? Also, the new package uses debhelper 7. I'm not sure whether that deals with dh_icons automatically. It would be good to investigate that as well. If the diff is still needed then please forward it to Debian, if not then please drop it.
