I agree, but I think it is fixed. I tried adding Cyrillic character (non-ASCII!) in the name and other configuration strings and it works fine in latest CVS version.
It is expected that Quarry remembers the last entered (or set by default) name, so it should not notice if you change your real name in the system after it has stored some configuration. Regarding Ubuntu package update, that's up to Quarry maintainer in Ubuntu.
