I have some great news i have got my 5 in 1 card reader working with SD media cards.
I found the drivers here http://developer.berlios.de/projects/tifmxx I have tested the drivers with a Canon 16MB SD card and SanDisk 512MB SD card and have been able to read both cards with no problem, and both the cards auto mounted.
