Public bug reported: Using the alternate install cd for manual partitioning with raid partitions on 3 disks:
120 + 120 + 200 GiB --> 3*100 MiB raid1 /dev/md0 (ext2 - /boot) 3*1 GiB swap 3*119 GiB raid5 /dev/md1 (ext3 - /) All Linux partitions are formatted. Windows XPPsp2 was already installed on the remaining 80 GiB of the third disk. (ntfs). I tried to mount the ntfs partition on /windows. This is one of the suggested mount points in the installer, the other is /dos. When saving the changes, the installer starts formatting the partitions. After that, it mounts the partitions. The installer gives a message that it failed to mount the /windows partition, and comes back to the partitions list. Already tried: * manually entering another mount pount (/mnt/windows, /data, /data/windows, /media/windows,...) --> failed with the same message. * not mounting the ntfs partition --> installer continues without any further errors. I encountered this problem in the alternate install cds of 6.10; 6.10 beta; 6.06; and I think even 5.10 (not 100% sure about the last one). ** Affects: ubiquity (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- alternate install cd cannot mount /windows partition https://launchpad.net/bugs/70697 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
