Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: evolution
As shown in the attached screenshot, the summary information in the
folder view does not match the actual content of the folder.
This behavior was observed in evolution-2.24.0-0ubuntu1, running against
an IMAP server (cyrus-imapd-2.2-2.2.13-14ubuntu2).
It appears to be some form of interaction between evolution and the
server; I have another folder connected to a remote IMAP server (gmail)
and it appears to be operating correctly--without these issues. I have
not tried this using a local folder (ie: "On This Computer").
I have attempted to fix it by forcing evolution to shut down, then
deleting the ~/.evolution folder, thus forcing it to regenerate summary
information. While this does appear to fix it initially, the problem
quickly reappears once new mail arrives.
I have also attempted to fix this by deleting and regenerating the
account set up.
I have observed erratic updates that appear to correct the summary
presentation, but I haven't yet been able to identify any events that
these "corrections" correlate to.
Additionally, it often fails to detect unread emails even on startup,
forcing me to browse every folder manually to ensure I haven't
overlooked something.
While I wrote this, another email arrived in this folder; the folder-
view still reports 1 unread email, even though there are now three
present.
