Yesterday's 02 October 2008 Beta Release of Ubuntu 8.10 using kernel
2.6.27.4-generic won't Shut Down or Restart after hard drive
installation, requiring power off before Restart from cold. I thought
that this problem had been fixed in Alpha-6 (Bug Report #271028) but
evidently this does not apply to the Beta release.
