Public bug reported: Binary package hint: lazarus
Lazarus is a fantastic free development environment and would be a good example of free software development tools for beginners but has been compiled with default options (GTK1 rather than GTK2) and looks awful as it is. This might well put off prospective users who have never seen it before which would be a shame. When the IDE has been compiled with GTK2, Lazarus looks fantastic and obviously fits in with the general look and feel of Ubuntu in a much better way. Please compile the code as GTK2 rather than GTK1 for the Ubuntu repository. It would be nice to have LazReport (http://lazreport.sourceforge.net/ - also included in Lazarus source code) compiled in by default as well. Carlos - if you want me to help then I will as I use Lazarus on a regular basis both on Ubuntu (32/64 bit) and RHEL 4/5. Release = lazarus-0.9.24-0-5 The code should default to GTK2 anyway (if it exists) rather than GTK1 I think (and this bug exists within the primary source code from http://www.lazarus.freepascal.com) ** Affects: lazarus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: gtk2 lazarus ** Description changed: Binary package hint: lazarus Lazarus is a fantastic free development environment and would be a good example of free software development tools for beginners but has been compiled with default options (GTK1 rather than GTK2) and looks awful as it is.
