I've looked into the problem a bit more, and I have more information now. The crash seems to occur when /bin/setupcon calls:
eval consolechars -v --tty=$console -f "$FONT" $verbose on line 201. If I comment that line out, then setupcon crashes on line 231, which contains: eval consolechars -v --tty=$console --acm "$ACM" $verbose If I comment that out as well, then the computer no longer crashes on boot. I still don't see the login screen on my TV, but instead of a completely black screen, I see a black screen with a flashing cursor, and num lock continues to function. As well, I can log in over SSH. jetpeach: I looked in /var/log/Xorg.0.log, but I can't see anything relevant there. I think the problem occurs before X loads, although I'm not sure why I don't see gdm after commenting out the lines that make setupcon crash. I'm guessing that maybe consolechars does something that's required for X to load. I haven't tried the proprietary nvidia drivers, I've only been using the open source ones. -- Edgy crashes while booting if TV out connected https://launchpad.net/bugs/67636 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
